NFL Week 6 lines: 5 best bets on underdogs
With the NFL Week 6 lines established for the weekend, we identify five underdogs worth looking at for a cover and/or victory.
5. Detroit Lions (+3.5) vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Lions are 0-5, but they have been victimized twice at the end of games by last-second field goals from long range. Detroit isn’t good, but the Bengals come to Motown after having lost a brutal game against the Green Bay Packers last Sunday. Do they bounce back, or can Detroit steal a win from Joe Burrow and Co.? Laying 3.5 points, the Bengals could get beat or simply allow the Lions to cover at home.

4. Tennessee Titans (+5.5) vs. Buffalo Bills
Buffalo is the best team in the AFC — and maybe the NFL — but this could be a weird trap game. The Bills just dispatched the Kansas City Chiefs 38-20 at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, and got their revenge to some degree for last year’s AFC Championship Game. Now Buffalo takes on the Titans, who have stumbled somewhat to their 3-2 record. While the Titans probably fall short at home on Monday night, 5.5 points is a large spread for a decent host.
3. Los Angeles Chargers (+2.5) at Baltimore Ravens
This is all about value. Both the Ravens and Chargers are sitting at 4-1 and each has enjoyed some luck to this point. While both are undoubtedly good and led by top-10 quarterbacks, Baltimore has won games on 66-yard field goals and Clyde Edwards-Helaire fumbling. Los Angeles has to come cross-country, but the Ravens are on a short week and could be the inferior squad.
2. Carolina Panthers (+2.5) vs. Minnesota Vikings
Can someone explain why the Vikings are favored by almost a field goal here? Carolina is without star running back Christian McCaffrey, but the defense is very good led by a swarming front seven. Minnesota has long had issues blocking for quarterback Kirk Cousins, and the Vikings’ defense can be had, especially on the outside. Look for the Panthers to avenge their consecutive defeats and handle Minnesota to get to 4-2 on the year.
1. Arizona Cardinals (+3) at Cleveland Browns
With the late news of Kliff Kingsbury and some of his coaching staff being out with COVID-19, this could be a bit riskier. Still, the Cardinals are the only unbeaten team in the league and the Browns are without running back Nick Chubb. If this becomes Kyler Murray against Baker Mayfield, take the Cardinals to win outright on the road.
