Lamar Jackson Seething Over Current Rut
Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said in 2019 that quarterback Lamar Jackson had the potential to revolutionize the position.
However, Lamar Jackson set a record in Sunday’s 16-10 victory over Cleveland that he’d rather not have to his name. He became the first quarterback in eight years to win in the NFL after being intercepted four times.
Baltimore is 8-3 and sits atop the AFC ahead of their Week 13 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It’s no consolation for Lamar Jackson, though.
“Bad passes, inaccurate, underthrown passes. That’s all I seen. Bad reads,” Jackson said. “I looked like a rookie, I let it fester. I need to feel that pain. That’s pain right there.”

It’s no wonder he’s smarting, because he’s on the worst run of his career. In his first 50 starts, the Baltimore Ravens scored over 20 points. In three of his past four starts, the team has been held to under 20 points.
His 12 interceptions this year are the second most in the league behind Ryan Tannehill’s 13. He’s been intercepted five times in the last nine games, which is the same amount he was picked off in the entire 2019 season in which he was named MVP.
“No excuses,” he said. “That was just a bad performance. Four interceptions. Hope that never, ever happens again. Not ever.”

“Every week is a different week,” Harbaugh said. “We’re not trying to look at some grand answer or some psychological diagnosis about one thing or another. It’s not about all of that. It’s about playing a very competitive game for three-and-a-half hours, preparing for the week to do it, and doing the best you can [to] play your best game. That’s really all you can do.”
