Grizzlies crush Thunder by NBA-record 73 points
The Memphis Grizzlies are pushing through a tough stretch without star point guard Ja Morant.
However, it didn’t stop the Grizzlies from making NBA history as the franchise’s 73-point win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night set an NBA record.
Memphis scored 152 points behind two quarters with 40 or more points while notching more than 30 points in each period. They had nine players score in double figures while all 12 players that played scored in the blowout.
The Thunder simply had no answer defensively as the Grizzlies shot 62.5% from the floor and 52.8% from beyond the arc (19-of-36). Memphis scored 82 points in the paint, held a 29-9 edge in fast break points, and finished with a 53-26 rebounding edge.
The Grizzlies dominated all aspects of the game in the blowout that left the players shocked at the manner the game unfolded.
“At that moment, I didn’t know it was a franchise record,” guard John Konchar said via ESPN. “I just kind of saw the lane, and I dunked it. But it’s awesome.”
The Thunder were outworked without a single answer to make the contest competitive at any point. Oklahoma City failed to score more than two points in two quarters while notching more than 26 points in any period.

Oklahoma City almost landed on the wrong end of NBA history last season after falling behind by 67 points to Indiana Pacers but cut that down to a 57-point margin in the loss. The Grizzlies face the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.
