Bengals QB Joe Burrow says team has stayed healthy due to lack of things to do in Cincinnati
The Cincinnati Bengals are pushing their way toward securing a playoff berth. Despite the high number of recent COVID-19 cases around the league, the Bengals have been able to avoid it almost entirely with only starting cornerback Chidobe Awuzie sitting out due to the virus.
Rising star quarterback Joe Burrow believes the decreased numbers in Cincinnati are due to the city not possessing a robust nightlife.
“Fortunately, there’s not a ton to do in Cincinnati,” Burrow said Wednesday via Ben Baby of ESPN. “Nobody is going out to clubs and bars and getting COVID every weekend. But we’ve been healthy.”
Much of the league has been hit hard by the increased number of COVID cases around the country linked to the omicron variant of the virus. Several teams have dealt with multiple players having to miss time.
At one point, the Los Angeles Rams had 29 players placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. It’s an issue that continues to impact teams, which could become a more pressing matter as the playoffs near closer.

The Bengals are currently tied for the NFC North division lead with the Baltimore Ravens. The two teams are set to face off in Week 15 action, as a win for Cincinnati would give them a regular-season sweep.
Burrow has been putting together a strong second campaign, as he’s eighth in the league with 3,640 passing yards and 26 touchdown passes. Over the rest of the season, his performance will play a pivotal factor in the Bengals’ playoff push.
