NFL Week 17 schedule: 5 best bets on favorites

Taking a look at the NFL Week 17 schedule, here are the five favorites who are the best bets to win and cover their spreads.

5. Kansas City Chiefs (-4.5) at Cincinnati Bengals

This entire week has been centered nationally around how the Bengals seem a sure shot to beat the Chiefs after blowing out the Ravens. Don’t think Kansas City isn’t paying attention. Patrick Mahomes is as petty as it gets, and the Chiefs need to win this game to be the AFC’s top seed. Kansas City is better on offense, defense and special teams, and it’ll show on Sunday.

4. Los Angeles Rams (-5.5) at Baltimore Ravens

The Rams may or may not get to see Lamar Jackson in action against them this weekend, with the former MVP still trying to work his way back from a sprained ankle sustained in Week 14. Regardless, Baltimore is without a quality defense, specifically in the back end. Joe Burrow just went for 525 passing yards against them, and while the Ravens won’t surrender that amount, Matthew Stafford should have no issue eclipsing 300.

3. Green Bay Packers (-13) vs. Minnesota Vikings

Without Kirk Cousins, this game is already over. The Packers only need to beat Sean Mannion and then the Detroit Lions in Week 18 to clinch home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. It’s going to happen. On Sunday night, Minnesota is essentially without a chance of putting up any real fight against Aaron Rodgers and Co., who should have no problem winning this game at Lambeau Field by a few touchdowns.

2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-13) at New York Jets

Have you seen the Jets try to play football this season? Yes, the Buccaneers are hurting with a bevy of stars out for Sunday’s tilt, but does it matter? Tampa Bay basically has to score 24 points to cover this spread, and New York hasn’t been able to slow down anybody. Also, Zach Wilson is in the midst of a brutal rookie campaign. Don’t expect to do much against the defending champs.

1. Los Angeles Chargers (-6.5) vs. Denver Broncos

The Broncos are dealing with a massive COVID outbreak that has wiped out a litany of their best players for Sunday’s game. Additionally, they’ll be without starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who suffered a nasty concussion two weeks ago against the Bengals. Meanwhile, the Chargers have lost two straight and need to win or essentially be eliminated from the postseason chase. Expect Justin Herbert and the offense to get revenge on Denver after losing to the Broncos earlier this season.
