Vikings will be without QB Kirk Cousins for showdown with Packers
The NFL is coming down to the final two weeks of the regular season, with one NFC North division rivalry taking an unexpected turn ahead of Week 17. The Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers are set to go head to head on Sunday, but now Minnesota will be without their starting quarter.
According to Courtney Cronin of ESPN, Kirk Cousins will miss the divisional game against the Packers after being unvaccinated and placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
The Minnesota Vikings placed quarterback Kirk Cousins on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Friday, the team announced. Cousins, who is not vaccinated, will not be eligible to play at the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night.
This is a must-win situation for the Vikings in order to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Packers, however, have already punched their ticket to the postseason and won’t have as much to gain from a win, but are without a doubt the more talented team in this matchup.

With Cousins stuck at home dealing with COVID, the Vikings will turn to veteran backup Sean Mannion. Obviously, the team’s chances of pulling out a win aren’t as favorable without Cousins under center. The Packers will look to take out their division rivals and may be able to do it with relative ease unless Minnesota can find a way to get the edge over Green Bay without their star gunslinger.
