Warriors star Klay Thompson set to return against Cavaliers
Since suffering a torn Achilles tendon in November 2020, Golden State Warrior star guard Klay Thompson has steadily worked through his recovery.
It appears that Thompson will make his long-awaited return on Sunday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
After a two-year layoff with significant injuries, there’s optimism that Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson will make his return against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, sources told ESPN.
The Warriors have taken the precautionary route with Thompson due to returning from two significant injuries. Golden State had initially circled around Christmas Day for his comeback, but the team is giving him more time to make sure his body is ready to play.
Thompson has only ramped up his rehab work with scrimmage games against the Warriors’ G-League affiliate team while partaking in pre-game workouts. The franchise wants to avoid any possible setbacks with the star guard.
The team is walking a cautious route as Thompson will be back on the court for the first time in over two years. Head coach Steve Kerr has voiced that the star guard will play in the starting lineup when he returns.

The Warriors will likely play him in limited minutes to allow his body to get readjusted to the extended role and physicality. Golden State is hoping he can add to their promising start to push the franchise toward NBA title contention.
Time will tell what lies ahead for Golden State, but Thompson’s imminent return is inching closer.
