New York Giants fans are stuck with laughable franchise
The New York Giants might not have the worst record in the NFL. However, they’re the franchise with the least hope going into 2022.
John Mara doesn’t care about winning.
Mara, the longtime owner of the New York Giants, is the third of his family to run the franchise. He’s had success, Â taking over in 2005 and winning a pair of Super Bowls. However, over the last 10 seasons, New York is without a playoff win and only one postseason appearance.

This year, the team hit a new low. On their way to another top-five pick, the Giants were getting beat on Sunday in the season finale at MetLife Stadium against the Washington Football Team. Trailing 3-0 in the second quarter and on its own 2-yard line, New York called a quarterback sneak on 2nd and 11, gaining two yards. Then, head coach Joe Judge called another sneak, resulting in two yards and a ton of earned booing from the faithful.
On Black Monday, a litany of head coaches around the league were fired including Matt Nagy (Chicago Bears), Mike Zimmer (Minnesota Vikings) and, surprisingly, Brian Flores (Miami Dolphins). Combined with the already-existing openings with the Las Vegas Raiders, Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars, there are a half-dozen jobs for the picking. Somehow, the Giants have decided they’re set with Judge.
Judge, who owns a 10-23 record across two seasons, inspires nobody but opposing teams. The Giants have largely been a bye week attached to a win in most weeks, getting hammered by good and bad teams alike. For Mara, that has apparently earned a third year, even with the general manager position coming open after Dave Gettleman retired.

By keeping Judge, the Giants are hurting their ability to land a top-tier general manager. Who wants to come to town and be stuck with one of the league’s most incompetent coaches and a quarterback in Daniel Jones who has looked like a combination between poor and lost over his first three years.
In a division where the Dallas Cowboys are loaded with talent and the Philadelphia Eagles are both ascending, smart and stacked with three first-round picks this year, the Giants are only falling further behind.
And yet by keeping Judge, Mara is sending a clear message: that’s absolutely fine by us.
