NFL MVP odds 2022: 5 best bets to place
The NFL MVP odds are out and it should be a fun race, largely between quarterbacks on contending teams. But which are the right bets?
5. Russell Wilson, Denver Broncos (+1400)
Wilson has famously never received an MVP vote, let alone the award. So why choose him here? Exactly for the first sentence. The MVP is given on merit, but it is also about the story, whether voters want to admit it or not. And if Wilson can resurrect his career with the Broncos in the league’s toughest division, he’s going to garner plenty of votes. The Broncos have enough weapons to see Wilson put up big numbers as well, giving him a good case.

4. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills (+700)
Allen is the favorite in every book, and understandably. He was terrific last year and by most metrics, even better in 2020. The Bills are loaded and the pick of many to win the Super Bowl. So why is he only fourth on the list? Because as the favorite, he doesn’t generate a ton of value at 7/1. Also, Buffalo is probably going to win a lot of its games with plenty of time on the clock. Does that hurt Allen’s ability to put up big numbers?
3. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs (+900)
Mahomes is going to be an annual member of this list as long as he plays football. The fifth-year man in Kansas City sustained what many would regard as a down year for him in 2021, and he still posted 4,839 passing yards and 37 touchdowns against 13 interceptions. With all the doubters this season, don’t be surprised if Mahomes has the best year of his illustrious career to date, and takes home his second MVP. He’s arguably the best quarterback in football, with the best offensive line.

2. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals (+1200)
Anybody sleeping on Burrow is making a big mistake. He’s entering his third year and now has a decent offensive line blocking for him. Burrow also has the league’s best trio of wideouts with Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd. The Bengals should boast one of the NFL’s top offenses with Burrow at the controls, and if he posts career-highs once more as he did in 2021, look out.
1. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers (+1000)
Herbert is the best pick based on value, talent and team. The Chargers have one of the league’s best rosters, Herbert threw for 5,014 yards last season, and at 10/1, you’re getting more return than for Mahomes or Allen. With Keenan Allen and Mike Williams on the outside, along with running back Austin Ekeler out of the backfield, Herbert might be the best bet in football to take home MVP.
