Steelers RB Najee Harris In The Running For Week 1
The Pittsburgh Steelers look to be in good shape injury-wise ahead of Week 1 in spite of some close shaves.
The biggest concern is RB Najee Harris, who has been coping with a Lisfranc sprain since the start of camp. However, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, he should be fine to start the season.
Both edge rusher T.J Watt and WR Diontae Johnson sustained knocks in Pittsburgh’s recent preseason win over the Lions. Their extraction from the game was thought to be precautionary on the part of the Steelers.Â

“We saw him (Harris) the other day in the game (and) that is a sign that he is good to go, ready for the season,” Rapoport said on NFL Now on Monday. “Judging from the initial injury, it seems like he was out about four weeks with this Lisfranc. That’s the general timeline — usually a month or a little more.
“So, just based on watching him, the timeline, knowing what they do about the injury, it seems like he’s going to be fine for the regular season, which is a good sign because he’s certainly going to be depended on in Pittsburgh.”

On Watt and Johnson, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said they could have continued if it wasn’t a preseason game.
The Steelers should head into Week 1 in a strong position. They will be particularly thankful for the fitness of Harris, as the RB will be heavily relied upon throughout the season.
