Rams WR Cooper Kupp: ‘We should be playing on grass’
Over the last several years, the NFL has had several issues arise concerning player safety regarding playing on turf instead of grass fields. That topic has remained a prominent topic of discussion as Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver Cooper Kupp voiced distinctly that he prefers to play on grass over turf.
“It’s not even close,” Kupp said Thursday via ESPN. “I know there’s stuff going around the league right now, there’s some issues. Hands down, we should be playing on grass. Hands down, we should be on grass. And that’s all I’m going to say.”

SoFi Stadium is one of the 14 of 30 venues in the NFL that uses artificial turf. Jalen Ramsey joined in support of Kupp’s stance, stating that the grass field is better for the player’s joints in their legs.
“It’s better on your joints,” Ramsey said. “It’s better on your body. And this might sound a little funky, a little weird, but … it feels different. You can feel the grass differently than you can feel the turf. The grass might have a little give to it. The way you plant, the way you break, grass just feels … the feel of it is better.
“I ain’t tripping, though. I’ll play on concrete if I’ve got to.”
There have been several instances where injuries have occurred on a turf field. Most recently happened this past Sunday’s game at SoFi Stadium between the Los Angeles Chargers and Seattle Seahawks as both star wideout DK Metcalf and standout cornerback J.C. Jackson exited the game due to non-contact knee injuries.
