Packers rumored to prefer moving on from Aaron Rodgers
Another offseason filled with questions concerning star quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ future with the Green Bay Packers lies ahead.
The four-time league MVP may have a three-year, $150.8 million extension in place. Although that hasn’t stopped the chatter around his standing with the Packers.
Rodgers has remained quite vocal that he wants to finish his career with Green Bay, but he’s open to moving in another direction if the franchise wants to go with Jordan Love under center. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the organization may consider an offseason trade to move the future first-ballot Hall of Famer.

“League sources believe the franchise prefers to move on from Rodgers, just as it once did with Brett Favre,’ Schefter wrote. “Those sources also believe that Rodgers is well aware of the Packers’ feelings on the situation.”
Trading Rodgers isn’t a guarantee, but the Packers appear more than open to that possibility. The biggest hurdle for the entire situation is that the 39-year-old holds a significant dead-cap hit for the 2023 campaign at $99.7 million.

During a recent interview on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers voiced that he’s willing to rework his contract to help make it more financially flexible for the Packers to either add more talent or lower his cap hit to allow them to move him.
There are many different directions this situation can head, but that all depends on Rodgers’ desire to play another season. With the start of the new league year roughly a month away, the Packers will get an answer soon.
