Bears ‘leaning toward’ trading No. 1 pick in 2023 NFL Draft
In the months leading to the 2023 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears will hold all the attention on their No. 1 overall pick.
The Bears are in a unique position that could have a significant impact on the future of the franchise. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Chicago is reportedly leaning toward moving the top overall selection.
The organization’s game plan with the pick is entirely dependent on the team’s faith that Justin Fields is the long-term answer under center. The franchise has remained vocal that it believes that Fields can lead the team to sustained success.

General manager Ryan Poles has kept the door open to the possibility of moving the first overall selection.
“We have flexibility where if there’s opportunities where if we can turn that into a lot of players that come in and help us, we can do that,” Poles said via ESPN. “If it’s staying put or really being selective with certain people, we can do that as well. I know my expectation, our expectation, is that we move the needle to be more successful. We can win some of these close games and bring in guys that can impact this football team.”
The Bears could have the chance to garner several early-round selections in a trade that could allow the team to build the roster through the draft. It will all depend on how desperate other teams behind them in the draft order are desiring a quarterback such as Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud.
