Ravens QB Lamar Jackson wants to throw for 6,000 yards next season

The excitement around the Baltimore Ravens elevated once again after star quarterback Lamar Jackson inked his five-year, $260 million deal.

Jackson returns to a situation where he will have an improved offensive roster around him with added weapons to the wide receiver room led by Odell Beckham Jr., Nelson Agholor, and rookie first-round selection Zay Flowers.

All that has led Jackson to voice that he believes he could have a career-best campaign throwing the ball.

“I want to throw for like 6,000 yards with the weapons we have,” Jackson said with a laugh via ESPN. “I’m not an individual award-type guy or a stat watcher. I just want to do that because no one has ever done it and I feel like we have the weapons to do it.”

Although Jackson voiced his comments jokingly, he holds the potential to put up the biggest numbers of his career. Beckham will be one of the key factors to him surpassing his current single-season career-best mark of 3,127 passing yards.

Beckham is arguably the best wide receiver that he’s played with in his first five seasons. He already has a strong connection with Pro Bowl tight end Mark Andrews, which has helped him become of the game’s top players at his position.

Much of this will depend on the Ravens adjusting the offensive game plan to reduce his involvement in the running game. That has been his bread and butter throughout his brief NFL career.

If there is a significant change in that regard, then Jackson could produce career-best passing numbers in 2023.
