Dolphins, Packers were serious suitors for Colts RB Jonathan Taylor
Things have gotten progressively ugly within the Indianapolis Colts organization lately after contract talks with star running back Jonathan Taylor fell apart, prompting the All-Pro to ask the team to trade him before the 2023 NFL season.
At first, team owner Jim Irsay was livid about Taylor asking to be traded and was adamant about the team refusing to give him what he wanted, which obviously meant things were getting pretty heated on both sides.
Then, out of nowhere, the team publicly granted Taylor and his representation the ability to seek a trade, making for an interesting development of the situation, to say the least.

The team gave a self-imposed deadline to get a deal done, which seemed on pace to come to fruition with the Miami Dolphins, but the deadline passed, and nothing happened, taking them back to square one.
According to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports, the Dolphins and the Green Bay Packers were willing to make a deal while also making Taylor a very wealthy man.

This was a surprising development considering the way elite running backs have been treated by teams as of late when it comes to lucrative long-term contracts, but obviously, no numbers were revealed.
The Packers showing interest in Taylor was also an interesting development, especially if they were willing to pay top dollar to keep him in Green Bay because Aaron Jones is their lead back.
Either way, no deal came to fruition, but the door doesn’t seem to be shut entirely, as this was a telling tweet by Anderson, which may indicate a desire to restart trade talks.
