Derrick Henry: I Am Always Going To Be Locked In
Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry had one of his worst games in almost a decade on Sunday against Cleveland.
In the 27-3 defeat, Derrick Henry had just 20 yards rushing on 11 carries. That’s his lowest amount of yards rushing since 2017. As well as that, it’s the second lowest amount of his career in games where he’s had over ten carries.
Derrick Henry led the NFL in rush yards per game from 2019 – 2022 with 109.9. His 2023 struggles are illustrative of the Titans’ offensive struggles this season.

Through three games so far, he’s averaging a career-low 3.2 yards per carry and 53.3 rush yards per game.
Tennessee’s upcoming game against the Cincinnati Bengals could be an opportunity to address this. While the Bengals recently held the Rams to 71 rushing yards, they have allowed 455 so far this season – the third most in the league.
Henry says such a poor performance is motivation to do better in Week 4 and that the Titans must do better as a collective.
“I am always motivated to play the next game,” Henry said
“Last weekend, it was rough. We didn’t have much success. … But at the end of the day, I am always going to be locked in; I’m always going to be focused on my job and what I have to do. I am going to go out there and play my best.
“Did last weekend add a little more fuel? Definitely.â€

“It takes all 11 — everybody focused, having the will to get off the line of scrimmage, create space, us finishing runs, guys going in there and digging out safeties and DBs,” Henry said.
“(The Bengals) have had success against us the last couple of games, and we just have to be better focused and get into drives, and everybody do what they are supposed to.”
