Rams’ Cooper Kupp could miss some time with ankle injury

The Los Angeles Rams have stumbled out of the gate to the 2024 season, and things have taken another disappointing turn as star wide receiver Cooper Kupp could miss a few weeks due to an ankle injury.

Kupp suffered the injury during Sunday’s 41-10 blowout loss to the Arizona Cardinals on a 24-yard catch-and-run near the end of the second quarter. Kupp limped to the locker room at halftime.

Kupp appeared to sustain the injury on his fourth reception of the game — a 24-yard catch-and-run near the end of the first half. He walked off the field to the locker room at halftime with a noticeable limp and wore a walking boot after the game.

He would leave the game early, finishing with four catches for 37 receiving yards. Kupp has team-best numbers with 18 catches for 147 receiving yards and a touchdown through the first two games.

“[Kupp] ran across the field, did a really nice job, and then was limping a little bit,” quarterback Matthew Stafford said via ESPN. “And he doesn’t usually limp for too long. Sometimes you get stepped on and you limp for a minute and walk one off. But we will see what that is. Obviously a huge part of our team and a huge part of our offense.”

The Rams are already without fellow star wideout Puka Nacua as he sits on the injured reserve due to a PCL injury. If Kupp were to miss time, Los Angeles would be dependent on Demarcus Robinson, Tyler Johnson, Tutu Atwell, and rookie Jordan Whittington.
