Joe Flacco gives Colts ‘best chance to win’ says Colts coach
The Indianapolis Colts are currently at 4-4 on the season after the loss to the division-rival Houston Texans and have a shot at making it to the NFL playoffs if they can put some more wins together during the second half of the 2024 campaign.

Following the loss to the Texans, the Colts head coach Shane Steichen and his coaching staff made the decision it was time to make a change at the quarterback position in order to give the team the best chance to win games moving forward. This change meant second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson would head to the bench while 39-year-old veteran Joe Flacco would be the starter from here on out via Stephen Holder of ESPN.
Colts coach Shane Steichen says the decision to bench Anthony Richardson was his and was prompted because of a belief that veteran Joe Flacco “gives us the best chance to win right now.”
Although this is a controversial decision, which some believe could derail Richardson’s development, the former Florida Gators star seems to be taking the demotion the right way. Richardson believes this is something he can grow from via ESPN.
“As a competitor, definitely don’t want to be told that you’re not the guy anymore for the upcoming week,” Richardson said. “… I’m using this moment as an opportunity to grow and just learn from my mistake.”
It remains to be seen if this is the right move for the Colts and how it impacts Richardson, but Flacco does seem like the better option at the moment.
