Jerry Jones vows to improve Cowboys’ roster
The Dallas Cowboys were considered a legitimate Super Bowl title contender during the 2023 NFL season, as America’s Team was able to secure the second seed in the NFC with one of the best rosters in the league on both sides of the football.
Unfortunately, this season has not gone as planned for Dallas, as the team has now lost three straight games while also seeing star quarterback Dak Prescott go down with a hamstring injury in the loss to the Atlanta Falcons on the road.
Following the loss to the Falcons, longtime team owner Jerry Jones spoke to the media, saying he spoke to the team via Todd Archer of ESPN.
“Well, I really don’t want to get into that because it was a very emotional message,” Jones said. “But I spoke to the team about having my butt kicked a few times and been around men who’ve had their butt kicked, and I’ve seen them come back and hold the trophy up … Now there’s times for all things. We all know we’ve got to play better than we’ve played tonight or we’re not going anywhere.”
Apparently, Jones may have seen enough of his team struggling and vowed to make some changes to improve the roster moving forward, as the NFL trade deadline looms via ESPN.
“We’re going to do everything we can, at all times, to improve this team and in our judgment, if what you have to give up helps improve it, we’ll do it,” Jones said. “I know everybody understands I don’t think I have to say it, but we’ll go for it.”
Jones won’t have much time to wheel and deal with the trade deadline being on Tues. Nov. 5, but there might be some intriguing opportunities after Week 9.
