Christian McCaffrey returns to practice for 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers have had a rough year after making it to the Super Bowl last season, with injuries taking a serious toll on the NFC heavyweights, especially when it comes to the running back position with superstar Christian McCaffrey.
McCaffrey hasn’t played a single game this season, as he’s been dealing with issues in both legs, which has proven costly to the usually potent offense of the 49ers.

Fortunately for San Francisco, the 49ers were able to get McCaffrey back on the practice field ahead of Week 10 on Monday, according to Nick Wagoner of ESPN.
In what is the most significant step he has taken in his recovery from Achilles tendinitis, San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey returned to practice Monday.
The 49ers will now go through the evaluation process with arguably their best player in hopes of getting him back on the field for Week 10’s matchup on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers via ESPN.
“The expectation is to see how he is when he gets back and then evaluate him as he goes,” Shanahan said last week. “Of course, the hope is that everything just goes back to normal and it’s perfect. That’s what we’re all striving for, but you’ve got to play that out smartly and you’ve got to evaluate that each day. What we see with our own eyes, what he tells us. That’ll be something we constantly are working through.”
If McCaffrey returns to the field and resembles his elite form, the team will get a considerable boost moving forward and might start to become the dominant offense of old and make a run in the second half of the 2024 campaign.
