Cowboys make trade for WR Jonathan Mingo
After losing their third straight game in Week 9, falling to the Atlanta Falcons after consecutive losses to the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers, the Dallas Cowboys are in a challenging situation, sitting at 3-5 on the season.
As if their losing record wasn’t concerning, especially with costly losses to NFC heavyweights, the Cowboys will also have to play the next several weeks without star quarterback Dak Prescott, who is dealing with a hamstring injury.

Ahead of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, the Cowboys chose to make a trade with the Carolina Panthers to acquire wide receiver Jonathan Mingo in exchange for a seventh-round draft pick in 2025, according to Todd Archer of ESPN.
The Dallas Cowboys acquired wide receiver Jonathan Mingo and a 2025 seventh-round pick from the Carolina Panthers for a 2025 fourth-round pick before Tuesday’s trade deadline.
This is an interesting move by the Cowboys, as it doesn’t address a serious area of need, especially with backup Cooper Rush set to be at the helm moving forward.
However, longtime team owner Jerry Jones made it clear the team would do something if they could via ESPN.
After Sunday’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons that dropped Dallas to 3-5, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said the team has “some things in the mill” for a trade but does not expect a blockbuster deal.
The Cowboys are dealing with CeeDee Lamb nursing an AC joint injury while Brandin Cooks is on the injured list, so Mingo does provide some help at the wide receiver position moving forward, but this is far from a game-changer for Dallas.
