Giants legend Eli Manning among Hall of Fame semifinalists
The NFL has dropped the list of the 25 semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning.
The group will be reduced to a list of 15 finalists who be voted on at the annual meeting prior to next year’s Super Bowl which will result in the next Hall of Fame class.
The list has six players in their first eligible year while 10 players were finalists last year. An 80 percent approval rate for players is needed to get in, which will see between three and five players receive that prestigious honor as modern-era candidates.
Manning is part of a group of first-time players eligible that include former Defensive Players of the Year Luke Kuechly and Terrell Suggs, three-time Pro Bowl safety Earl Thomas, two-time All-Pro guard Marshal Yanda, and kicker Adam Vinatieri.
Manning spent his entire 16-year NFL career with the Giants, where he helped lead the franchise to two Super Bowl wins while he finished ranked seventh in league history with 57,023 passing yards, 366 touchdown passes, and 4,895 completions. He also earned four Pro Bowl selections.

Manning also sits on a shortlist alongside Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Bart Starr, Patrick Mahomes, and Terry Bradshaw as the only players to win multiple Super Bowl MVP awards.
The question will become whether Manning accomplished enough over his NFL career to earn a Pro Football Hall of Fame induction. He finished with a 117-117 regular-season record and had only six playoff appearances.
