Packers’ Jordan Love dealing with elbow injury ahead of clash with Eagles

The Green Bay Packers face a daunting task in the wildcard round on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Packers move toward that matchup with some injury issues as star quarterback Jordan Love is dealing with a right elbow issue that occurred in the season finale against the Chicago Bears.

Love revealed that he experienced numbness in his right hand during the Week 18 tilt against the Bears but added that he still has soreness with his elbow.

“Yeah, it’s more my elbow,” Love said Wednesday via ESPN. “Recovering [from] that.”

Love has been the driving force for pushing the Packers toward the playoffs to finish with an 11-6 record. Despite missing two games due to injury, he finished with 3,389 passing yards, 25 touchdown passes to 11 interceptions, and a 96.7 passer rating.

The 26-year-old will play a pivotal role in Green Bay’s postseason success and will be leaned on heavily to guide them past the Eagles, who hold an 8-1 home record this season.

It’s not just Love, as backup Malik Willis is also dealing with a lingering injury as he had his throwing hand hit a Bears player’s helmet in the fourth quarter of last Sunday’s game. Although the x-rays came back negative, he cannot get a normal grip on the football.

“I mean, it doesn’t feel normal, no,” Willis said. “I just did whatever they allowed me to do out there today, and we’ll see how it goes the rest of the week.”

Neither injury will prevent either player from being available or playing against the Eagles, but they remain situations to monitor.
