Khalil Mack wants to stay with the Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers could have a key piece of their defense back in 2025 as star pass rusher Khalil Mack is expected to play a 12th season.

After the wildcard round loss to the Houston Texans, Mack expressed that he needed time to decide his NFL future. His return would maintain a significant part of the Chargers’ pass rush alongside Joey Bosa.

Mack is coming off posting 6.0 sacks, 39 total tackles, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble, and 49 total quarterback pressures.

The 33-year-old has put together an illustrious career that places him among the most decorated players in league history behind an NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, nine Pro Bowl selections, four First-Team All-Pro nods, and a Second-Team All-Pro selection.

His 107.5 career sacks are the third most since he entered the NFL in 2014. Mack is one of 13 players to have at least 13 sacks, 30 forced fumbles, and three interceptions.

The nine-time Pro Bowler is set to hit free agency for the first time in his career, which could open the door to other opportunities around the league.

However, Mack stated earlier this month that he believes the Chargers would give him the best chance to win a Super Bowl.

“As long as Justin Herbert is your quarterback. You got [safety] Derwin James and all these guys that love the game of football. And Jim Harbaugh coaching?” Mack said on Jan. 12 via ESPN. “You know you always have a chance to win. Yeah, that’s a no-brainer.”
