Cowboys make trade with Steelers for George Pickens
The Dallas Cowboys have landed another star talent by acquiring wide receiver George Pickens.
The Cowboys moved a 2026 third-round selection and a 2027 fifth-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers to land Pickens along with a 2027 sixth-round selection.
Pickens is coming off posting 59 receptions for 900 receiving yards and three touchdowns. It marked the third straight season to begin his NFL career that he has posted at least 50 catches, 800 receiving yards, and three touchdowns.
He will immediately step in opposite Pro Bowl wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to give the Cowboys a highly formidable duo in the passing game. Pickens has proven to be a big-play talent, but issues have arisen with his behavior linked to his maturity at times.
It has put him in the spotlight in Pittsburgh with questions concerning his effort level, while unpredictability has played a factor. Nonetheless, Pickens is getting a change of scenery that could prove to be the jumpstart he needs to erase that narrative around him.

He will also have the motivation to prove he can be a game-changing factor in Dallas as he’s in the final year of his rookie deal. Pickens has a lot riding on the 2025 season, as it could help him secure a lucrative payday next offseason.
Given team owner Jerry Jones’ track record, it’s likely that he could wait until next offseason to work out a new deal with Pickens. Until then, he has much to prove in Dallas in what could become a career-defining campaign.
