Kevin Durant prefers to land with Spurs, Heat or Rockets

It’s only a matter of time before the Phoenix Suns pull the trigger on a blockbuster trade to send superstar Kevin Durant elsewhere, as the two sides have decided it is time to part ways.

The real question now is where Durant will end up once the dust settles on this ongoing trade saga, as a deal will likely come to fruition sooner rather than later. There’s a chance Durant gets moved before the 2025 NBA Draft, which takes place on June 25.

Durant has a list of three teams in particular that he would like to play for moving forward, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.

The Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets are Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant’s preferred trade destinations, sources told ESPN on Saturday night. People across the NBA have been made aware in recent days that those are the three teams Durant would commit to with a long-term extension.

These three teams have been logical destinations all along for the two-time NBA champion. However, Durant has no say in the process, with the Suns able to trade him to a team that gives the best offer. There are six to eight teams seriously interested in the veteran forward’s services.

Durant is on an expiring $54.7 million deal for the 2025-26 season, and the Suns have made clear to the six to eight seriously interested teams that they will make the best deal for the franchise, even if it means trading Durant to a team outside his preferred list, sources said.

Only time will tell how things pan out here, but one thing is for sure: Durant will be suiting up for a different team next season.
