Apparently, during Sunday’s practice in training camp, Cowboys fans let team owner and general manager Jerry Jones hear it in terms of wanting the team to pay Parsons what he deserves with a new contract extension. Jones acknowledged those fans and their plea to get Parsons paid, as reported by Todd Archer of ESPN.

“I heard it light, but not compared to how I heard them say, ‘Pay Lamb [last year],'” Jones said on Sunday of the CeeDee Lamb negotiations from last year. “That was a faint little sound compared to the way they were hollering last year, ‘Pay Lamb.’ … Whoever’s not in, you can count on a few hollering that. But it was a big loud chant last year on Lamb.”

Jones, however, was unwilling to comment on the progress of contract talks with arguably the best player on the Cowboys.

“Really I don’t have anything to comment there at all,” Jones said. “Just no comment.”

Although a deal with Parsons could be finalized at any moment, especially with T.J. Watt recently becoming the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jones admitted he wants to get his best player paid.

“It doesn’t change anything,” he said. “We want to pay Micah, too. He’s got to want to be paid, too.”

Only time will tell how things pan out between the Cowboys and Parsons, and whether this situation becomes a prolonged issue for the storied franchise.
