How Far Will the Heat’s Streak Go?

The Miami Heat has won 15 straight games as they take on the Orlando Magic tonight. As we look at the Heat’s upcoming schedule, it is hard to see a loss coming any time soon. So how far can this streak go on? Let’s look at the schedule and see:
After the Magic come to town tonight, the Heat will host the Philadelphia 76ers, Indiana Pacers and Atlanta Hawks before heading out on the road again. Indiana and Atlanta can be tough, but at home the Heat should beat them.
After that Miami faces a five game road trip at the Sixers, Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers. Of those five, the Bucks and the Celtics are two to watch out for. But still we are talking about the seventh and eighth seeded teams in the Eastern Conference here. So that puts the Heat at 24 in a row.
They come back home to host the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Bobcats (26 straight), then visit the Magic (27). It is there they get a toughie. They will go on the road to face the Chicago Bulls. If they can pull that one out it would be 28 straight, five short of the NBA record of 33 in a row set by the 1972 Los Angeles Lakers.
That would put them at the New Orleans Hornets for number 29. But then they will face the San Antonio Spurs on the road. That is where the streak will most likely come to a halt. If Miami goes into that game with 29 in a row, the Spurs and their crowd will be juiced that night to stop it.
But just for the heck of it let’s say Miami beats them. You will want to mark Tuesday April 9th as a big night. The Heat will host the Milwaukee Bucks with a shot at NBA history as they go for 34 in a row, that is provided after they beat the Spurs, they go on to beat the New York Knicks in game 31.
OF course, in the NBA anyone can beat you. Orlando could beat the Heat tonight. But if the heat stay focused every night like they have the last 15, then other that the game at the Spurs, they should have a shot at this record.
