Rays @ D-Backs: Familiar Interleague Play

It was only about a week ago when these two teams faced off against each other.  In that game it was the Arizona Diamondbacks who came out on top against the Tampa Bay Rays, 7-0.

In fact, a lot of things are going to look the same as last weeks game.  For example both Jeremy Hellickson and Wade Miley will be facing off against each other again to open this short two-game interleague series.

Miley will be looking to have similar luck to his last outing against the Rays Miley when he went 6 1/3 shutout innings.

The Diamondbacks as a whole will be looking to have similar luck as they sit in second place, 5.5 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers.  The Rays also have a lot on the line as they also find themselves in second place behind the Boston Red Sox.  They are only one game behind though, and as the Red Sox are entering what should be an easy series against the Houston Astros, every win is going to count for the Rays.

There will be one thing different between this game and the the one played last week, a change in scenery.  Hallickson is going to have to overcome Miley in an away game, something he couldn’t do at home.

Hallickson was handed his first loss since mid-June when he fell to the D-backs.  He lasted 4 1/3 innings.  He surrendered four earned runs on seven hits in what would be his shortest outing of the season.

Overall, Hallickson has an ERA of 4.60 and is 10-4.

Miley has a rough couple of months before turning in dominant performance after dominant performance in July.  He has a 1.59 ERA for the month of July and has secured four win out of six games.

Overall, Miley is 8-8 with a 3.68 ERA.
