Chicago Looks To Square Series With Blues

When the Stanley Cup Playoffs started one of the predictions we made was that the series between the Chicago Blackhawks and the St. Louis Blues was going to be the biggest back-and-forth series of the playoffs.  After a Chicago comeback, we do not look wrong.

The St. Louis Blues shot out of the gate to take a big 2-0 series lead in this best of seven.  However, the Blackhawks did not stay down long.  In Game 3 on Monday the Blackhawks won 2-0 and now have a ton of confidence and momentum heading into Game 4, where they will look to tie up the series.

The St. Louis Blues currently lead the series, but it has not been easy.  Both their win came in overtime. Chicago’s win was not an easy won either.  It was their defense that got the job done as they were outhit by the Blues.  None of those shots went in, while the Blackhawks put away two pucks to win.

While the ‘Hawks will be looking to tie the series, the Blues will be looking to take a huge series lead back to home ice for Game 5. If the Blues win tonight they could close the series on Friday at the Scottrade Center.  The Blackhawks have not beat the Blues on the road in five games, three of which occurred this season.

Chicago has struggled making good on the power play this series, but it was extremely evident in Game 3 where they tried for a power play four times and were unsuccessful each attempt. In fact, the Blackhawks have only one power-play goal in 16 attempts in the series.

Brandon Saad has been a difference maker for Chicago.  He has had an assist in each of the first three games, tallying up to four in the series.

The Blues have been struggling to stay healthy this series with their team captain on the bench.  Alexander Steen and Vladimir Sobotka filled the role but it was not filled well enough to win Game 3. 

The Blues goalie Ryan Miller has been a bright spot for St. Louis.  He has only given up four goal in 87 shots.

The Blackhawks are the favorites to win this one according to the spread.  The game starts at 9:30 p.m. ET and you can watch on NBCSN.
