Two Hot Pitchers Set To Collide
Wei-Yin Chen (Baltimore Orioles) and Tommy Milone (Oakland Athletics) are both enjoying a hot streak, but when they face off in the opening game of a three-game series this evening something will have to give.
Chen is 6-1 over the last ten games and is typically dominant over the As. In his three starts against the squad he has a 3-0 record with a 0.44 ERA.
When Chen pitched last, he went 5 1/3 innings, holding the Houston Astros to just four hits and one run while striking out eight.
It took him a while to take off, but Milone is now heating up after a slow start. He has a 3-0 record while posting a 1.67 ERA over five starts. Milone started the season 0-3 on his first five games.
Milone is getting hot at the perfect time, as the Orioles offense has been cracking the bat since June began.
In the month of June, the Orioles have brought in 23 runs over three games. The team’s bating average is a .368.
Milone has had a lot of help from the As defense and offense as well. In his last game he picked up a no-decsion. Yoenis Cespedes helped limit his earned runs count by throwing out two runners. The Orioles offense also did their part by putting 10 runs on the board.
Milone has a 0.69 ERA in two starts against the Orioles in his career with a 1-1 record.
The Orioles will have home-field advantage. The game starts tonight at 7:05 p.m. ET. The Orioles are the slight favorites to win this game according to the sportsbooks.
