Analyzing NBA Rookie Of The Year Odds

Three names come up when talking about the future odds of NBA Rookie of the Year. Those names are Andrew Wiggins, Julius Randle and Jabari Parker. All three have their pros and cons and sportsbooks across the internet odds vary. Let’s take a look at which of these three players have the best shot at ROY next year.

Julius Randle

Julius Randle was a huge favorite to win Rookie of the Year.  He was drafted to a Los Angeles Lakers squad that was scrounging for talent after they were overlooked by Carmelo Anthony.

Randle has proven himself to be one of the most game-ready NBA rookies. He averaged 15 point per game with Kentucky, averages 12.5 points and 4.3 rebounds in Vegas during summer league play and looks to be the most talented rookie out of the lot.

However, since then the Lakers have picked up Carlos Boozer and Ed Davis Randle may have trouble finding the minutes to prove what he is capable of. The Lakers are in no mood to rebuild and their patience to wait for Randle to grow this season will likely be limited, like Randle’s minutes.

Andrew Wiggins

Andrew Wiggins like Randle has a lot of ‘ifs’ when it comes to his Rookie of the Year odds.

When first drafted to Cleveland it looked as though he was going to be the big star in Cleveland. With the Cavs acquisition of LeBron James, though, the Cavs are now big-time contenders.

With James on the court Wiggins is not going to get a lot of touches and will likely be regulated to a facilitator role. If Wiggins is traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of a trade package for Kevin Love, Wiggins will be the focal point of the offense.

Through the four games of summer league, Wiggins is averaging 15.5 points a game. He scored 21 points against the Houston Rockets and went 15 for 20 in free throws.

Jabari Parker

Jabari Parker was not particularly impressive in the summer league. He finished the league with 20 points and 15 rebounds against the Golden State Warriors. Parker is consistent, though, averaging 15.6 points and over 8 rebounds a game.

More importantly, the Milwaukee Bucks will need home to play now and be the center of their team to build around. He is going to get the minuets and the touches needed to show what he is capable of.
