Giants Vs. Brewers: Battle Of Two Major Contenders
With the first of many college game days officially underway, MLB betting lines are getting lost in the shuffle, but with only 30 days remaining in the regular season games mean more now than they have all season, and in the National League two top tier teams are battling in a series that could have major playoff implications.
The San Francisco Giants are 3.5 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West. Â Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Brewers have a 1.5-game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central.
The Brewers will see that lead dwindle if they perform like they did on Friday night. They allowed the Giants to put a season-high 13 runs on the board. The Brewers offense did not fair much better only posting two runs.
The Giants are rolling. They have won six of their last seven home games and eight of their last 11 overall games. The Brewers will have their best chance at conquering the Giants tonight, though.
The Brewers will be sending Mike Fiers to the mound. Fiers has had an incredible August, going 4-0 with a 1.28 ERA. He has sent 32 batters back to the dugout with strikeouts and allowed only 10 hits over 28 innings. In Fiers last outing he allowed just two runs against the Pittsburgh Pirates over seven innings.
Jake Peavy is going to look to continue his team’s success against the Brewers. Peavy is 2-4 with a 3.18 ERA over six starts. Peavy has struggled against the Brewers, though. He is 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA in two starts. Peavy is having a great August. He has a 2.94 ERA this month, his second best month of the season. Peavy just recently joined the Giants and may still be settling into his new environment.
The Giants are the favorites to win this game. The game starts at 9:05 p.m. ET.
