Top Two AL East Teams Begin Series
The Baltimore Orioles sit comfortable atop the AL East with a lead large enough that it is safe to say they are going to clinch the division. The Toronto Blue Jays are still in the Wildcard hunt and need every win they can get.
Baltimore is coming off a series with another division rival, the New York Yankees. They beat the Yankees 3-2 in the last game of the series.
The Blue Jays took a one-run loss to the Tampa Bay Rays in their last outing.
Both these teams have had no trouble hitting the ball over the last few games, which means we could see a high scoring game.
Wei-Yin Chen will take the mound for the Orioles. Chen struggled toward the latter half of August where he posted a 4.34 ERA in his last three starts of the month. Chen is having a better month in September. He has held opposing teams to only one run over 13 innings over two starts this month.
Overall Chen has a 3.59 ERA and is 15-4.
Marcus Stroman will be tasked with slowing the Orioles offense for the Blue Jays.
Stronman is coming off his best career start where he allowed three hits and struck out eight when he held the Chicago Cubs scoreless. It was the second time in his career that he pitched nine innings.
Overall Stroman is 10-5 with a 3.61 ERA.
The O’s are the favorites to win this one with a –119 moneyline. The Orioles moneyline is set at +109 with a 7.5 total. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. ET.
