Jets vs. Steelers, Who Needs the W More
This week in the NFL, the New York Jets are headed to face the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both teams are having a less-than-great season. The Jets are 1-8, losing eight games in a row – they are close to a franchise record for more consecutive losses in a season. The Steelers head to Met Life Stadium 6-3 hot off a big win at home against rival, Baltimore 43-23.
Going to in to face Ben Roethlisberger is definitely not an easy task for any team but especially the Jets. Big Ben is four scoring throws away from breaking Peyton Manning’s three-game record (15) of scoring throws. Roethlisberger has completed 65 of 86 passes for a total of 864 yards and ZERO interceptions.
Playing against the Jets defense, which has allowed 231 yards per game, could potentially put up a challenge for the Steelers offense. However, the Jets have given up the fourth most passes in the league of 40 or more yards, making Big Ben’s arm an even bigger threat. The Jets cornerbacks vs. wide receiver, Antonio Brown is also going to be an impactful matchup to influence the outcome of this game. Brown leads the NFL with 103 targets. 71 catches and 996 yards. He also has eight touchdown catches which is fourth in the league.
Both teams are bidding for every single win this season. The Steelers need to keep winning to lead their division and make it to the playoffs. The Jets are clinging on for a different reason. Rex Ryan could definitely be going through his last season as the Jets coach. This season still has some potential for the Jets if they can manage to win a few more games but with eight straight losses, they have much of a uphill battle.
