Memphis Grizzlies – Contenders for the West
The Memphis Grizzlies is usually a team in the West, which is dominated by some of the best teams in the entire leagues, that is consistently overlooked throughout the season until they are playing in the playoffs. This season, the Grizzlies are 6-1. they were previously undefeated until Knight from the Milwaukee Bucks hit a three pointer in the last second of the game. and could be a contender if they keep on winning like they have been.
With the core group of players and talent that the Grizzlies have, it is easy to see why they have been able to find success. Mike Conley, Marc Gasol, and Zach Randolph were all a part of the Grizzlies when they made their Western Conference finals appearance two years ago and so far this season, they have been proving that they are ready to go back.
Conley is a start point guard for the Grizzlies and in the league. So far this season, Conley is off to an average of 16-point and 6.6 assists in all games so far and is expected to average about 17 points a game. In the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, another contender in the west, Conley hit a three pointer with 38 seconds left on the clock to win the game for the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies are impressing at defense as well and as the saying goes, defenses win championships. Last season, the Grizzlies had the top ranked scoring defense in the Western Conference. They also have the strength and talent of Tony Allen who has been brilliantly nicknamed, “The Kevin Durant Stopper.â€
Although it was only one loss so far this season, the Grizzlies know that every single game matters in the super competitive Western Conference. A loss now could be the difference between being in the playoffs or watching it from at home.
