Pats Take Down Chargers
The San Diego Chargers fell to the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football last night, 23-14.
The Patriots covered the spread as 3.5 favorites, while those who put money on the under picked up the win with a total set at 51.5 points.
The night seemed like it was made for the Chargers to upset the Patriots. San Diego came into the contest with three straight wins and seemed primed to make a playoff run. They stayed within striking distance for most of the game, but eventually it was the defensive prowess of the Pats overwhelmed them.
The Chargers were impressive in the loss. It was simply pressure from the Patriot’s defensive line that allowed New England to take this one away from San Diego.
The Chargers still have a good shot at making it into the post season, but with teams like New England and Denver awaiting them there it is unlikely that this football team will make it very far.
Meanwhile, the Patriots continue to make their case that they are the best team in the NFL.
They now sit atop the future odds with 7/2 and those who picked up the Patriots early in the season in the futures got a good deal when the Pats were as far back as the team with the tenth best odds at a Super Bowl.
The Pats have now gone 12 consecutive seasons with 10 or more wins. They are now poised to be the No. 1 seed in the playoffs and with win over the Chargers and the Broncos they are the undisputed best team in the AFC.
However, things change from week to week in the NFL and all it will take is a team to devise a game plan that can stifle New England. That is going to be easier said than done, though.
