AFC West Week 15

The AFC West may be decided as far as the playoffs go, but that doesn’t mean that aren’t some great wagers to be had in week 15. Bettors can continue to ride the hottest horses in the league by taking Denver to beat the Ravens this week, while also looking toward the Panthers and the Raiders to get some late season wins. The Chiefs may be on their way to earning the first pick in next year’s draft with the way they are playing, but maybe that’s not such a bad thing? Here are the match-ups in the AFC West today and what to look for out of the week 15 battles.

Look for Manning and Co. to keep things rolling

Denver Broncos 10-3 at Baltimore Ravens 9-4

Eight wins a in row for Denver says they are definitely doing something right. With the way the they are playing, I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up clinching the top spot in the entire AFC, which would earn them a first round bye in the playoffs. This team has it all working right now, with a tenacious sack-attack defense, a solid, balanced offense and the experienced, MVP quarterback under center leading the way. The Ravens probably will end up winning the AFC North, since they still lead by two games with three to go, but it looks like they’ll be limping into the playoffs because I don’t see them getting past the hottest team in the league this week. Take Denver to earn its ninth straight win, while sending Baltimore to its third straight loss by covering -3 points today.

Kansas City Chiefs 2-11 at Oakland Raiders 3-10

You might assume there’s nothing on the line here, but if you did, you would be completely wrong! These teams both have a good shot at the number one pick in the draft, but I don’t think these rivals will be trying to lose to one another today. Let’s face it both teams are bad, but Oakland has a more effective passing game led by a veteran quarterback in Carson Palmer, who should be able to do enough to be the hapless Chiefs. Especially at home. Take Oakland to win this one, covering -3 points and sending the Chiefs to 2-12 and likely the top pick next year.

Carolina Panthers 4-9 at San Diego Chargers 5-8

This match-up features two preseason dark horses that didn’t quite pan out. There’s really nothing at stake here, other than coaches’ jobs, as both squads try to finish with a respectable record. There’s not too much to say about this one. Carolina is surprisingly the more balanced team and although they are on the road, it shouldn’t matter much, since San Diego is only 2-4 at home this season. I like the underdog in this one. Take Carolina to cover +3 and win outright.
