Barry Bonds Does Not Understand Treatment of Alex Rodriguez

Barry Bonds cannot understand why a blind eye is being turned by the New York Yankees to Alex Rodriguez, who needs just five more home runs to tie the great Willie Mays for fourth place all time.

Bonds said that anytime anybody in baseball accomplishes something special, baseball should celebrate its. Baseball is the beneficiary of the hard work by the person, so baseball should celebrate the accomplishment at the very least.

The former Pittsburgh Pirate and San Francisco Giant great thinks that the Yankees organization needs to embrace Rodriguez, as it seems the fans finally have.

Bonds asks why all the hate? Why hate something you pay to see? He just does not understand the reasoning.

Rodriquez still has three years remaining on his current contract with New York that will pay him $61 million. He could earn a bonus of $6 million by tying the home run total of Mays.

However, the Yankees said they would fight that bonus, as they will argue it is worthless due to the drug history of Rodriguez and his suspension of one full year.

Rodriguez in an interview said he was thankful for Bonds’ kind words. He said that anyone who comes out in support of him is much appreciated.

Bonds said that Rodriguez was not running to be the president. He is not running to be the commissioner or a political office. He added that they were just ballplayers, imperfect people, just human beings.

The former power hitter said when Rodriguez hits his 660th home run he will be happy for him and so will Willie Mays as should everyone.

Mays said he did not have an issue with Rodriguez hitting No. 660. He added he did not have any feeling about it. Records he added are set to be broken.

Joe Girardi the manager of the Yankees said when Rodriguez hits his 660th home run some people will celebrate it and some would not. I think it is all about a personal opinion, added the Yankees manager.

Following No. 660, will the 762 of Bonds be the next goal for A-Rod? He needs only another 22 RBIs and will pass the 1,996 Bonds has for second all time in MLB.

Rodriguez is playing DH at this time and has played in each of the first six Yankees games batting in five different spots in the process.

He has batted as high as second and even down to seventh. Saturday he was at first base marking the first time in his pro career, he played first base.

Rodriguez is batting .300 to lead the Yankees, his six RBIs lead the Yankees and his .967 OPS is second on the team.
