Carmelo Anthony Deserves Better – Wade
Ten-time All-Star Carmelo Anthony is finding himself frozen out of the league that he once dominated.
Carmelo Anthony (35), will likely be a free agent by the time the NBA season gets underway on October 22. Despite talks with the Clippers and the Lakers, the three time Olympic gold medalist can’t find a team.
Carmelo Anthony has been treading a nomadic path towards NBA retirement. Technically, he has been on four teams over the past year, including the Rockets, OKC, the Braves and the Bulls.Â
He made ten appearances for Houston last year, playing on a veteran’s minimum contract.Â

Ice Cube believes that his 3-on-3 league, the Big 3, could provide Anthony with a path back to the NBA. Obviously, Ice Cube would love to have Anthony in his league. However, his cited example of Joe Johnson does carry weight.
“I think Carmelo would be great in the BIG3 but I think some guys have a stigma about the BIG3,†Cube said.Â
“When you go to the BIG3 your career is over but that’s not true. When the NBA lets you go, your career is over but you can continue to be a pro here. The BIG3 is where you continue your basketball career and until guys understand that, there’s going to be that stigma. Look at Joe Johnson, he showed what he could do in the BIG3 and he’s going to be back in the NBA. Carmelo could do the same if he wants.â€

Meanwhile, recently retired NBA legend Dwyane Wade has thrown his support behind Anthony.
“He’s a brother of mine and a great friend and I’m just very disappointed that he’s not in the NBA because he doesn’t deserve that as a person,†Wade said.Â
“Melo is one of the best individual people I know and a lot of people don’t know that because things that have been said about him in the past. Hopefully he gets an opportunity to be with a team this season because he has a lot to still offer the right team in the right role and the right situation. I want him to be able to end his career the way he wants to end it. He deserves that as someone who has carried the torch for this game and done so much for the league and Team USA in the Olympics. He deserves better than this.â€
