Cavs Cleared of Misconduct over Patrick McCaw
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been cleared of any misconduct regarding their signing and waiving of Toronto Raptors guard Patrick McCaw.
The NBA investigated the situation on the request of the Golden State Warriors. Patrick McCaw was signed by the Cavs from Golden State as a restricted free agent.
After winning two championships with Golden State, McCaw decided not to re sign with the team. The Cavaliers then submitted an offer sheet for him which the Warriors decided not to match.
After just three games with Cleveland, Patrick McCaw was waived, leading to something of an uproar. It was certainly a lot of controversy for the sake of a rotational player.
It was thought that waiving him was a Cavaliers ploy to sign him for less than his $6 million deal.

On Monday, the league released a statement on the matter. Had Cleveland been found guilty of wrongdoing, they could have forfeited a draft pick.
However, the NBA found “no violation of the league’s collective bargaining agreement, including the anti-circumvention rules.”
McCaw signed with the Toronto Raptors last week, mostly putting an end to the conspiracy theories.
The player himself cited personal reasons for his decision to move on from the Golden State Warriors.
“I loved playing in Golden State,†McCaw said.
“My teammates, the coaches, it was nothing really … nothing stands out to me to say I didn’t want to go back. Think it was just a personal thing where I was just like, I think it was time for me to move on for a new opportunity within myself. Nothing against Golden State, front office, coaches, players, the environment, it had nothing to do with any of that. It’s just a personal thing, and I wanted a new opportunity to move on.â€
