Chiefs and Rams Combine For 105 Points, Deal Vegas Big Loss

The Monday Night Football over/under total for the Week 11 matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams was set at an almost unheard of 64. However, the two teams combined to score an incredible 41 points above that total with the Rams winning 54-51.

That caused most sportsbooks to take a huge loss. Some suffered losses in the seven figures as sports bettors jumped on the OVER. Rightly, bettors anticipated the two offensive powers to produce points on nearly every possession.

Early estimates show that on average the OVER was bet on almost 70% of the tickets.

The line for most sportsbooks opened at 64 and closed there making it the highest over/under several years. In 2000, the San Francisco 49ers played the St. Louis Rams with the point total closing at 62 and the Rams were victorious 34-24.

The opening line for Monday’s game had the Rams as the 1-point favorites at most sportsbooks both online and in Las Vegas. The line was eventually bet up to has high as Rams -2.5 as early as Monday of last week but then taken off the board due to a question of where the game would be played because of field conditions at his scheduled location of Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

After the decision was made by the NFL to move the game to Los Angeles, the line reopened at Rams -3.5 across the board online and in Vegas but closed at Rams -3.

Sportsbooks took a beating in the game with the 105 points scored. Although, football fans with the exception of those supporting the Chiefs were entertained throughout.

The 105 total points was the third highest total of all-time in the NFL. Only the 72-41 score in 1966 between the Redskins and Giants and the 58-48 score in 2004 between the Bengals and Browns were higher.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw a Monday Night Football record six touchdowns. Rams quarterback Jared Goff threw for 413 yards, while Mahomes’ total was 478 yards.

A combined 14 touchdowns were scored in the game. This is one touchdown more than the Buffalo Bills have score all season through Week 11.
