Chiefs, Cowboys set to square off on Thanksgiving Day

After weeks of anticipation, the NFL finally dropped the 2025 regular season schedule around the league.

There are many enticing matchups ahead, including the Dallas Cowboys hosting the defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving.

It will mark the first time that the two teams will face each other since November 2021, when Kansas City edged out a 19-9 win. At the time, the Cowboys held the league’s top-ranked offense before the loss.

This is also the first time since 2006 that the Chiefs will play on Thanksgiving Day.

Dallas is coming off a disappointing 2024 season that saw them fall well short of reaching the playoffs. The team experienced several significant injuries, headlined by Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott missing the final nine games of the season due to a hamstring injury that required surgery.

The Cowboys have undergone much change over the offseason with head coach Mike McCarthy being let go after five seasons after snapping a streak of three straight playoff appearances. Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer was promoted to head coach, marking his first time in the position.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are entering the 2025 campaign falling short of capturing their third straight championship after being blown out in Super Bowl 59 by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kansas City put together a highly successful 2024 regular season, earning the league’s best record at a 15-2 mark. The Chiefs are looking to become the first team since the Buffalo Bills in 1994 to reach the Super Bowl in four straight years.
