Christian Wilkins Takes Responsibility for ‘Selfish’ Hit
Miami Dolphins rookie offensive lineman Christian Wilkins has continued his tumultuous start to life in the NFL.
Christian Wilkins was ejected Sunday for throwing a punch towards Buffalo Bills offensive tackle Cody Ford. It was a poor start to a game which the Dolphins would go on to lose 31 – 21.
This follows a Week 4 incident involving Chargers RB Austin Ekeler for which Wilkins was benched by coach Brian Flores.
For his violence on Sunday, Christian Wilkins was sent to the locker room by the officials. The former Clemson player is building a negative reputation in his first year in the league.
In an attempt to put out the fire, Wilkins took full responsibility for his actions, via the Miami Herald.Â

“I was extremely selfish,” Wilkins said.
â€This is the ultimate team sport. It’s not just about me. I don’t think I’ve ever been more disappointed in myself about something, especially something that was in my control.”
“Really, really shouldn’t have happened,” Wilkins said.Â
“There’s no place for it in this game and that’s not the standard I hold myself to because I just love this game, I try to respect this game as much as possible, play it as competitively as possible. This game was meant to be competitive, not combative. I really let myself down and my teammates down in just a selfish moment so early in the game.”

The Dolphins remain winless this season, and Flores was disappointed in his rookie after the game.
“We only dress 46 guys,” Flores said.Â
“When you lose one right off the bat, it puts a lot of pressure on the rest of the group.
“We’ve got backups at every position, but to start the game like that is not what you’re looking for.”
