Dallas Cowboys Vs New York Giants Preview
Roughly eight weeks ago the NFL season kicked off when the Dallas Cowboys took on the New York Giants. The Cowboys would get their season off to an excellent start with a 24-17 win.
Fast forward to today. The Giants sit on top of the NFC East with a 5-2 win-loss record. The Cowboys are tied for second with the Philadelphia Eagles with a 3-3 win-loss record.
The Cowboys 3-3 record is more disappointing than it looks on paper. The Cowboys suffered some big losses and the wins they did get was a struggle for the team. The Cowboys season looked as if it was on its way downhill until they got a huge win over the Carolina Panthers last week.
It is mid season, this is the time year when contenders start to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. The Cowboys do not need to drop to a losing record today they need this win.
The Giants, on the other hand, are looking to extend their control of the NFC East. The defending Superbowl champions have been playing like Superbowl contenders all season long. They will be entering the Cowboys stadium and this is usually a disadvantage but not for the Giants.
Since the new Cowboys stadium was built the Giants have played the Cowboys their three times and have handed the Cowboys disappointing defeat all three times.
The key to the Giant’s success is Eli Manning. He has played very well at the Cowboys stadium. In the three times Manning has visited the Cowboys he has thrown for 1,036 yards and eight touchdowns.
The Cowboys key to victory lies in the hands of the Dallas defense. Tony Romo will need to keep up with Manning, a task that I think he is up to. It will be up to the Cowboys fourth place defense to put the pressure on Manning and stifle his momentum.
The Cowboys will have to win against a 3 point spread. The game starts at 4:25 p.m. on Fox.
