Ezekiel Elliott Avoids Suspension, Promises to Behave
Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott will avoid an NFL suspension for an altercation with a security guard in May.Â
The incident occurred at a music festival in Las Vegas. Ezekiel Elliott was seen in video footage shoving a security guard, who fell to the ground.Â
Ezekiel Elliott was not charged by police, but is still subject to the NFL’s personal conduct policy. He met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in New York on Tuesday to discuss the incident.Â
He and Roger Goodell will know each other well at this point. Following a year long investigation, Elliott was suspended for 6 games in 2017. He was suspended under the personal conduct policy for domestic violence allegations made against him, although he wasn’t charged.

Following his meeting with Goodell, Elliott posted an apology on Twitter.Â
“I’ve worked hard to make better decisions and to live up to the high standards that areÂ
expected of me,” Elliott wrote.Â
“I failed to do that here and I made a poor decision.”
The 23 year old’s comments suggest that he has been given a stern warning by the NFL commissioner. Given that he escaped a suspension, his behaviour will be under intense scrutiny this season. He likely doesn’t have any strikes left with the league.
The All-Pro pledged to take care of himself and his career while working with the league.

“I need to work harder to ensure I do not put myself in compromised situations in the future,” Elliott wrote Tuesday.Â
“I am rededicating myself to use all of the resources that the league has made available.
“But in the end, it is up to me and I am determined not to be in this position again.”
