Floyd Mayweather Bets $10 Million On Broncos, Go Seahawks?
To be fair to Floyd Mayweather here, the general consensus here seems to be that he may have bet $10.4 million on the Denver Broncos to best the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII. Words like “reportedly†and “allegedly†have been thrown around a lot.
It all started on Monday when LaceupBoxing tweeted out the following:
Considering Mayweather’s crippling gambling addiction is a well known fact and he deals almost exclusively in cash, there’s absolutely no reason to doubt the legitimacy of the claim. He routinely bets into the millions on sporting events and brags about it on Twitter.
Conveniently only posting evidence of his big wins, while omitting anything regarding losses. But we all know Las Vegas wasn’t built on winners and the odds of Mayweather turning a profit long-term on random high-stakes sports betting are slim to none.
As for the Super Bowl Bet? FirstHype.com new exactly who to turn to for information regarding the spending habits of one Floyd Money—his massage therapist, Doralie Medina. Said Medina, “No, that’s not true at all. Floyd was just laughing about that.â€
The Denver Post attempted to confirm the report via tweets from bookies, which may not be the most reliable source of information, but it is something. Something they could have probably disproved with some novice level Googling.
Some of the aforementioned Googling quickly revealed that the photo of Mayweather supposedly betting over $10 million in cash on the Super Bowl attached to the tweet by LaceupBoxing is at least nine months old:
So it looks like maybe Mayweather didn’t drop $10 million on the Broncos after all. But then again, maybe he did. Just because we don’t have photographic evidence to prove it doesn’t mean it didn’t actually happen. He’s never given us a reason to suggest it didn’t.
Since I can’t confirm one way or another, my thoughts on the matter are pretty simple. If Mayweather did bet over $10 million on the Broncos, well then go Seahawks. If he didn’t, well then who cares because my Steelers have already been on vacation for nearly a month.
