LeBron James VS President Trump: Round Two

President Trump has hit back at LeBron James over his assertion that NBA players don’t care if he watches them.

The President hit LeBron James right where it hurts, saying that he preferred Miami Heat and NBA legend Michael Jordan.

While Jordan recently donated $100m to racial justice causes, he was famously apolitical when he was a player. His ‘republicans buy sneakers too’ comment has gone in history as a part of Jordan’s story.

Now, the most prominent republican has praised him as a way to jive LeBron James, who has been critical of the president.

When asked to choose between the two, Trump said  “Michael Jordan, plus he wasn’t political so people like him better.”

Just as he did with the NFL, President Trump has begun to denigrate the NBA over the prevalence of kneeling during the national anthem.

“It’s been horrible for basketball. Look at the basketball ratings. People are angry about it,” said Trump.

“They have enough politics with guys like me. They don’t need more. There was a nastiness about the NBA and the way it was done. The NBA is in trouble. Big trouble.”

The president previously described NFL players who protested as ‘sons of bitches’. His criticism and coziness with NFL owners caused the racial injustice protests to fizzle out back in 2016.

Amid an intensely political climate in recent months, the Black Lives Matter movement has been resurgent. Trump made it clear that he won’t be happy to see NFL players kneeling again. The President stopped just shy of threatening to shut down the season should players get political.

“You have to stand for your flag, and you have to respect your flag and your country,” Trump said.

“You’re making millions of dollars a year playing a sport you’d be playing anyway, they’d be playing it on the weekends. And they have to respect their country. If they don’t, frankly, if the NFL didn’t open I’d be very happy. If they don’t stand for their flag and stand strongly, I’d be very happy if they didn’t open.”
