Defending Super Bowl champions the Philadelphia Eagles have signed running back Matt Jones on a two year deal.
Matt Jones was released by the Washington Redskins last September. The 2015 third-round draft pick agreed a deal with the Eagles on Wednesday.

He played for the Washington Redskins for two seasons, but fell out of favor with head coach Jay Gruden.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound running back from Florida was thought to be next in line to replace Alfred Morris in Washington.
Jones played in 20 games for the Redskins, rushing for 950 yards for six touchdowns.
The issue was fumbling. Over those 20 games, he fumbled 8 times, of which he lost 6.

Matt Jones joins the Philadelphia Eagles from the Indianapolis Colts, who released him last week. He played the 2017 season in Indianapolis and appeared in five games.
In those five games, he rushed for 14 yards. The Philadelphia Eagles present a big opportunity for Jones, who has failed to establish himself for his former teams.
Reportedly, he won a tryout that consisted of three running backs, including former Baltimore Ravens rusher Terrance West.
The 25 year old will have to work hard and get a lot of luck to earn a spot in the Philadelphia Eagles roster. He will have Donnel Pumphrey and Wendell Smallwood ahead of him in the pecking order.
However, there is a path available and some logic to why the Eagles decided to sign him. Jones could operate as a power back behind ay Ajayi, Darren Sproles and Corey Clement.
At the very least, he will provide depth in a Philadelphia team that chose not to select a running back in the 2018 NFL Draft.
