Clippers’ Blake Griffin may miss two months with knee injury

The Los Angeles Clippers are headed in a downward spiral. After a promising start to the season, Doc Rivers’ squad has plummeted down the Western Conference standings. Now, they also have major injury issues to deal with moving forward.

Newcomer Patrick Beverley has already been ruled out for the season. The Clippers could be without their best player in Blake Griffin for quite some time. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Griffin’s knee injury suffered in Monday’s win over the Los Angeles Lakers may be enough to keep him out for two months.

LA Clippers All-Star forward Blake Griffin sprained the MCL in his left knee and could miss two months, the team announced Tuesday.

Test results on Tuesday showed no structural damage to the knee, according to the Clippers.

Playoffs

After scoring 26 points and grabbing 11 rebounds against the Lakers, Griffin went down with an injury that initially looked like he could walk off. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. However, the five-time All-Star ultimately had to be taken to the locker room only not to return.

Now the Clippers will have to press on without their face of the franchise. Los Angeles was already a stretch to win or even compete in the Western Conference this season, but this Griffin injury may be enough to take them out of playoff contention completely.

At this point, the Clippers are +6600 to win the West and +20000 to win it all. The Golden State Warriors, predictably, are still the favorites to win another title this season at -180, via Bovada.
